Recently, COSPOWERS successfully commissioned a 2MW/10.03MWh off-grid battery energy storage system at the IVATO Industrial Park in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. This project is a customized commercial and industrial energy storage solution addressing the local pain points of a weak power grid and frequent blackouts. It provides Madagascar with a stable and reliable green power supply, effectively resolving local electricity challenges.

The project integrates solar PV, diesel generation, and efficient battery storage technologies to form a complete and independent off-grid power supply system. It innovatively establishes an intelligent complementary power supply system based on "PV + Storage + Diesel Backup," merging solar photovoltaic, efficient battery storage, and diesel generation technologies into a comprehensive, standalone off-grid system. Leveraging Madagascar's abundant solar resources (approximately 2,800-3,000 hours of sunshine annually), the system maximizes the utilization of clean energy, significantly reducing reliance on expensive imported thermal power. Simultaneously, the large-capacity 10.03MWh storage unit provided by COSPOWERS precisely mitigates voltage fluctuations and substantially reduces the average daily power outage duration. To address the local environmental conditions of the tropical highland climate, such as high humidity, temperature variations, and corrosion, the project incorporated specialized optimizations in equipment design for moisture resistance, corrosion prevention, and stability, demonstrating strong local adaptability.
This commissioning not only alleviates peak electricity shortages in core areas of Madagascar's capital but also marks a significant breakthrough for COSPOWERS in the African energy storage market, further consolidating its competitiveness in the African new energy sector. By reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels and cutting carbon emissions, the project provides robust support for Madagascar's pursuit of energy self-sufficiency and sustainable development. It also offers a replicable and scalable Chinese solution for renewable energy development and energy security assurance in other grid-vulnerable regions across Africa.
